International brands at northmodern – A world of design at the show

Two days left till northmodern opens its doors to the fourth edition and the show is fast gaining a reputation as the go-to Nordic design show, with interest from many key European countries. British brands exhibiting at northmodern include H Furniture, Paul Kelley, Davey Lighting, Original BTC and Tom Dixon, all of them bringing their own specific style of Englishness to the show. Whilst companies from further afield are showing their latest designs to a design-hungry Scandinavian audience.

Original BTC is very well established and a much loved company favoured by Sir Terence Conran; a winner of the Elle Deco Made in UK Award; and also in receipt of The Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

 

Paul Kelley is a well established designer most famous for his bespoke furniture; at northmodern he is bringing a new edit of his current exhibition from the Venice Architectural Biennale. A combination of modular magnetic copper blocks offer an exciting take on multi-functional furniture: a chair can become a table or a storage unit and can be easily re-constructed by hand. Tom Dixon needs no introduction he is the King of British design; his furniture is instantly recognisable and often found in the most glamorous of hotels and bars; his accessories and lighting have become a staple of British life.

 

Berlin Super Book store – do you read me?! – will be visiting Copenhagen for the first time and setting up a collaborative shop with Space Magazine, showcasing the worlds finest design magazines and books alongside essential life products curated by the Space magazine team.

 

1.618 brings together sustainable design companies from France, La Petite Papeterie Française; lighting design company, Hualle from Chile and Encoded by Boettger from Bali, all with an emphasis on luxury living. Representing Italian talent is lighting giant Artemide and Venetian contemporary furniture Arper. Resident is a New Zealand company that gets its eclectic inspiration from a select group of designers, they use a range of high quality materials and processes to produce iconic, practical and dependable products.
