Architonic co-curator on northmodern’s new textile project

Looking towards the next edition of northmodern, the first exciting news in a row of many, is regarding a new textile area. northmodern consultant Signe Nørgaard, owner of Agency Signe Nørgaard, has set up a venture, creating a new and ambitious textile area co curated by none other than Architonic. An approximately 200sqm space, within the Surfaces and Facilities area of northmodern, will feature this special project, which brings a focus on textiles and technologies.

FSC Design Award and Mad & Bolig Design Award moves to northmodern May 2017

FSC AWARD is a design competition challenging the Danish design and architect students to create innovative product designs with sustainable wood. The goal is to inspire the new generation of designers to create designs with sustainability as well as see the potential in wood as a natural material.

Paustian relaunched the design icon; Muslingestolen (Clam Chair) at northmodern

In 1944, architect Philip Arctander designed a chair which has since become a design classic under the name Muslingestolen (Clam Chair) or the Arctander Chair. In collaboration with Philip Arctander’s granddaughter and the founders of Paustian, Paustian is now putting the iconic chair into production. With its light expression, soft, padded form and rounded legs, the Arctander Chair has become a point of reference in the field of furniture design. It was produced in limited numbers in the late 1940s.

Eberhart Furniture at northmodern

Cousins, Esben Christoffersen and Rune Vigil established the Danish furniture company Eberhart Furniture in 2014. Growing up together they spent their school holidays in their grandfather’s well-assorted workshop and this is where the seeds of Eberhart were sown. Their grandfather was a reputable architect and carpenter and his knowledge about the execution of quality craftsmanship was passed on to Esben and Rune.   The philosophy of Eberhart is to make furniture where natural materials and clean lines come together to make strong furniture, which become more beautiful with age. All products are made in Denmark and made by craftsmen who enjoy making quality furniture.   Eberhart exhibited at northmodern for the first time during the last northmodern fair, which took place on August 18th-20th 2016. Eberhart talks about their experience at the fair below:   “Since we introduced Eberhart Furniture in 2014 we have attended several smaller fairs. This year though, we wanted to be represented at a larger fair and northmodern seemed to be the right choice for us in regards to the stage of the development of our brand. We were represented in the Emerging area surrounded by dedicated designers and creative projects. During the fair we really benefitted from discussing the furniture field with both established and upcoming brands – An inspiring space which we can definitely recommend to other emerging designers at next year’s fair. Besides adding new specific dealers to our products we came home with new very relevant
